All CBSE schools must now have full-time mental health counsellors and career counsellors.</p><p>This rule shows that CBSE understands students need help with feelings and guidance, not only books and exams, to do well in life.</p><h5>Who Are the School Counsellors</h5><p>School counsellors are trained adults who will work to help the students during school hours.</p><p>For every 500 students in Classes 9 to 12, there will be two counsellors. One counsellor will help students with their feelings and emotions, and the other will help students think about choosing subjects and future careers.</p><p>They will talk to students who feel worried, stressed, or confused, and will also help them learn how to manage emotions.</p><h5>Why CBSE Made This Rule</h5><p>In recent years, many students in India have felt a lot of pressure because of exams, competition, and important life decisions. Experts and courts became worried about students’ mental health.</p><p>Earlier, only big schools had full-time counsellors, while smaller schools used part-time help. This system did not help all students equally.</p><p>In 2025, a High Court case led CBSE to make counselling compulsory in every CBSE school.</p><h5>How Counsellors Help Students</h5><p>Counsellors will help students understand feelings like fear, anger, and sadness. They will also teach simple ways to stay calm, think positively, and solve problems.</p><p>Career counsellors will help students learn about subjects and jobs so they can make better choices in life.</p><p>When problems are noticed early, counsellors can stop small worries from becoming bigger and can guide students to medical help if needed.</p><h5>Building a Healthier Future</h5><p>This new rule shows that mental health is now an important part of school life. CBSE treats emotional well-being and career guidance as important as studies.</p><p>This change can make schools calmer, help students feel stronger inside, and support them in making good choices for their future.</p>
