Who is Ratan Tata?
Ratan Tata is an Indian businessman born in 1937 in Bombay (now Mumbai). He is a role model to many. He is well-known for his good deeds and is respected by everyone. In 1962, he joined his family business, the Tata Group, after finishing his education. In 1991 he became the head of the Tata Group after replacing his uncle J.R.D. Tata.
Recently, Tata gave money to a start-up called Goodfellows. Let’s find out more about it.
What does Goodfellows do?
Goodfellows helps senior citizens meet and become friends with young people. These young people are called ‘Goodfellows’. The young people will be able to talk with senior citizens the way they would with their grandparents. In the future, Goodfellows will also help senior citizens who wish to travel but can’t due to less number of friends.
Super interesting! Who built Goodfellows?

The founder of Goodfellows is Shantanu Naidu. He joined the Tata Group after finishing his education. Naidu also started Motopaws to protect street dogs from accidents. This company makes dog collars that glow in the dark.
This is all cool. But is there a need for such a service?
It is believed that 15 million senior citizens are living alone in India. Imagine being all alone in this world. Nobody to talk to, laugh with, have fun with, etc. Life would be so boring! Goodfellows is helping such people. Go hug your grandparents if they are around. If not, you too can one day join the Goodfellows and become friends with someone else's grandparents!
