What is Chinese manjha?
Chinese manjha is a sharp, colourful string used for flying kites. These strings are really strong and hard to break. The strings are also coated with glass, and that’s why they can cut your fingers.
Even though they're called “Chinese manjha,” they don't come from China. They're made in different Indian states. They are made using a material that comes from China. It is popular because it is cheap and much stronger than the normal white kite string.
But these manjha strings can badly hurt animals, birds, and people. The Delhi government banned Chinese manjha in 2017. That's why the Delhi High Court has asked the police to stop its sale.
How harmful is Chinese manjha?

Flying kites is really fun! But using Chinese manjha is not good. These sharp strings can hurt animals, birds, and people very badly. They can even cut electric power lines and cause power cuts.
Every year, these strings hurt and sometimes even kill pigeons, crows, owls, endangered vultures, etc. The strings can cut their wings or even cause death. Sometimes these strings get stuck on poles, signs, bridges, etc., hurting people too.
Stray animals and humans on the street can get deeply cut by Chinese manjha and bleed to death. So, it’s better not to use them and also warn your friends about their dangers.
