A new start for a young man!

In 2016, Hritik Singh Parihar was just 18 years old. He was on a trip from Indore to Mumbai (two Indian cities) when he fell between two trains. It was a serious accident, and doctors had to remove both of his arms.

It was a hard time for him. He had a lot of pain and felt sad. He also had money problems. But he didn’t give up! He learned to do things with his feet, like using a phone and a laptop. He worked hard to finish his studies and became an engineer.

Recently, at age 26, he got the best gift ever—a new pair of hands! After waiting a long time for a donor, doctors did a big surgery. The surgery took over 15 hours. Doctors are happy with the results, and they think Parihar will soon be able to live a normal life again.

How difficult are hand surgeries?

Hand surgeries are difficult because hands have small nerves, blood vessels, and muscles. Doctors need special tools to carefully attach the hands. Even a tiny mistake can affect how the hands move.

After the surgery, patients need therapy to make their hands strong again. They do special exercises to learn how to use their new hands for everyday tasks.
