<h5>Where has the new planet been discovered?</h5>  <p>The new planet has been discovered in the ‘Whirlpool’ galaxy. Astronomers believe that this planet may be habitable. This discovery is unique because, in the past, all planets that have shown potential to become habitable have been discovered within the Milky Way itself. 
This planet is almost 28 million light-years from Earth and is extremely hard to locate, even with the most advanced telescopes. So far, there have been no pictures taken of the surface of the planet.</p> <h5>Who discovered the new planet?</h5>  <p>The new planet was discovered by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). NASA is an agency of the United States Government that specialises in space technology and exploration. It used an advanced space telescope called “Chandra X-ray Observatory” to discover the new planet.</p> <h5>How are such planets discovered?</h5>  <p>One of the main criteria that a planet has to meet to be considered as an exoplanet is that it has to revolve around a star. To discover an exoplanet, astronomers usually wait for the star, that planet and the Earth to fall in one straight line. When this happens, the planet will block some light from being emitted from the star. 
Telescopes located on Earth are very sensitive to light and are able to tell if any light is being blocked. Lasers and other tools are used to measure the distance between us and the planet. This method to locate exoplanets is known as the ‘Transit Method’.</p> <h5>How can the existence of this planet affect human life?</h5>  <p>An exoplanet, or a planet outside our solar system, is of high interest to astronomers as it may be capable of supporting life forms. These discoveries may also mean that one day, humans will get to live on other planets as well. Having access to other planets will give humans access to more land, resources, and even substances not found on Earth which can help in the development of science and technology.</p>
