<h5>Who is GM Gukesh?</h5><p>Dommaraju Gukesh, also known as Gukesh D., is a chess grandmaster (GM) from India. He is considered to be an Indian chess prodigy. He is the third-youngest person in history to qualify for the title of Grandmaster. The International Chess Federation, or World Chess Federation (also known as FIDE), gave him this title in March 2019 (at the age of 13).</p><p>At 16, he became the youngest player to defeat world champion Magnus Carlsen in a game in 2022. In July 2023, he became the youngest chess player to break the 2,750 mark in the Elo ratings. He broke the previous record held by Carlsen. Gukesh D. will end the month as the top-ranked Indian.</p><p>His rank will increase as he defeats Mistradin Iskandarov of Azerbaijan in the second round of the FIDE World Cup in Baku. Gukesh will also break into the top 10 on the end-of-month ratings list for the first time. This is a magnificent rise for the teenager, who only got into the top 100 at the end of April 2022.</p><p>Viswanathan Anand is the first Indian GM. So, moving past him in the FIDE rankings was not an easy task for GM Gukesh.
