<h5>Kilauea erupts!</h5><p>The Kilauea volcano in Hawaii, USA, just erupted! This volcano is one of the most active in the world. When it erupted, hot lava and smoke shot into the sky.</p><p>Luckily, the volcano is in a safe place called the Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park (HVNP). This park is far from where most people live, so no one is in danger right now.</p><p>But there is something called volcanic smog that can be harmful. Unlike tall, pointy volcanoes, Kilauea’s shape is much flatter.</p><p>Kilauea has erupted many times. It has been very active since 1983, and last erupted in June and September of 2024. In 2018, a big eruption destroyed over 700 homes.</p><p>The area around the volcano is closed to visitors because the ground can crack and rocks can fall. People should be careful around the volcano!</p><p>Also, the HVNP is a <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.newsahoot.com/articles/santiniketan-is-now-a-unesco-world-heritage-site">UNESCO World Heritage Site</a>, meaning it is very special. Many tourists come to see Kilauea and the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.newsahoot.com/articles/mauna-loa-in-hawaii-has-started-to-rumble">Mauna Loa volcano</a>. But it’s important to always be careful when there’s volcanic activity!</p><h5>Precautions are being taken.</h5><p>Officials are keeping an eye on the volcano. They are working with park officials to make sure everyone is safe.</p>
