What's The News?
On June 9, 2025, early in the morning, Israeli navy ships stopped a boat called Madleen, about 180 km away from Gaza.
The boat was part of a mission by a group named 'Freedom Flotilla Coalition'. It was trying to help the people living in Gaza by supplying important things like food and medicines.
There were 12 people on the boat, including Greta Thunberg. Israel took the boat to Ashdod port. They said everyone on the boat is safe and will be sent back soon.
What is the Freedom Flotilla and the Madleen?
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition is a group of people from many countries. Since 2010, they have sent small boats with food and medicine to Gaza.
They want to show that common people in Gaza need help and more supplies to survive this conflict with Israel.
The boat Madleen is named after Madeleen Kolab, the first fisherwoman from Gaza. The boat left Italy on 1st June with baby food, rice, and medicines. It was trying to reach Gaza on 9th June.
Why Were They Going to Gaza?
Israel and Palestine have been at war for months now. Israel has blocked all entries into Gaza (a region in Palestine) so that weapons cannot get in.
But it has also made it hard for the common people to get food and medicines. The people in Gaza are now dying of hunger.
The Freedom Flotilla wanted to bring the necessary items by boat.

What Happened to the Madleen Crew?
The people on the boat said drones flew over them, and their radios stopped working. Then, the Israeli navy came on board the boat.
A video posted by Freedom Flotilla shows the crew wearing life jackets with their hands raised up, while the Israeli forces enter the boat.

Israel said stopping the boat was needed because of the blockade.
What Could Happen Next?
Some countries have complained about Israel's actions but the Israeli government is not ready to stop this war.
The Freedom Flotilla group says they will send more boats in the future. They want the world to see how much help Gaza still needs and want the blockade to be ended.
