When does ISRO plan to send astronauts to the Moon?

After the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission, ISRO plans to send astronauts to the Moon by 2040. This is super exciting for Indian space fans.

Right now, ISRO is busy with the Gaganyaan project. It is India’s first manned space project under which astronauts will be sent to the Low Earth Orbit and will then be safely returned to Earth.

Under this mission, ISRO plans to send three people on a three-day trip around 400 kilometres above Earth. After the trip, they will safely come back and land in the Indian sea waters.

ISRO is working on new technologies like a safe launch vehicle, a life support system, and crew emergency escape systems to ensure everything goes smoothly. They are putting a lot of effort into developing these technologies for the mission to be successful.

Before sending people, ISRO will do some test missions to check everything. They'll do two unmanned missions before sending humans. Right now, the crew is also getting trained for the mission.

Where is crew training going on?

ISRO chairman S. Somanath said four Indian Air Force pilots are getting ready for the mission. They are currently undergoing various trainings at the Astronaut Training Facility in Bengaluru to prepare for the mission.
