<h5>What is the Ranji Trophy?</h5>  <p>Indians love cricket. We watch it on TV and play it with our friends. We love cheering for our favourite teams. Be it for domestic cricket like the Indian Premier League (IPL) or international cricket.
But did you know, aside from these teams, every state has their own cricket team (even more than one sometimes!) Yes, you read that right. These state cricket teams compete yearly to win a tournament known as the Ranji Trophy.
Ranji Trophy is a domestic tournament played in India. It was first played in 1934 and is named after Ranjitsinhji, the first Indian to play international cricket. It is the most prestigious domestic tournament in the country, and winning it is considered an outstanding achievement. </p>
<p>This year Madhya Pradesh (MP) won the Ranji Trophy. There is something significant about their win. Let’s find out why that is the case.
</p> <h5>What’s so special about Madhya Pradesh’s win?</h5>  <p>MP’s win is memorable and historic for many reasons. MP won the Ranji Trophy for the first time. They won it by defeating Mumbai, the most dominant team in the history of the Ranji Trophy. </p>
<p>The Mumbai team was playing its 47th Ranji Trophy final and was looking to win their 42nd title. Whereas the last time MP played in the final was twenty-three years ago, and they had lost the match to Karnataka.</p>
<p>What’s more incredible is that the coach of the MP team was Chandrakant Pandit. He was the captain when the team lost the final twenty-three years ago.

      </figure> <p>The MP team was brilliantly coached by Chandrakant Pandit, which was one of the main reasons for MP winning the Ranji Trophy. The team also had exceptional batters like Rajat Patidar, Shubham Sharma, and Yash Dubey. These three were among the top five run-getters in the tournament.
In the bowling department, the MP team was led by young players like Kumar Kartikey Singh and Gaurav Yadav, who were among the top five bowlers in the tournament. Overall, the team was extremely good, and each member of the team contributed to the team’s success.
</p> <h5>Will we see these players playing for India against other countries?</h5>  <p>Any player who performs well in tournaments like the Ranji Trophy has a good chance of representing India internationally.</p>

<p>Star players like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni were a part of their state teams. They were selected to represent India because of their excellent performance when representing their state teams. </p>
<p>So, if players from MP continue playing well, we might see them playing for India in the near future.
</p> <h5>How do I follow domestic cricket in India?</h5>  <p>Apart from the Ranji Trophy, there are several domestic tournaments in India. For example, Vijay Hazare Trophy is also played between the state teams. </p>
<p>Many domestic matches are shown live on YouTube or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) website. You can watch the games of your state’s cricket team and support them during tournaments. </p>
