<h5>Who is Marvia Malik?
</h5>  <p>Marvia Malik is a Pakistani transgender woman. She became known as the country's first transgender TV news anchor. A transgender person is someone who believes that their gender is different from the one they were born with. They may choose to dress differently or use a different name to match their gender identity.</p>
<p>Malik was born in Lahore, Pakistan in 1997. She was bullied at school as a child. Yet she managed to complete her education in journalism. She made her debut as an anchor in 2018 (inspirational, right?). Well, some people are not inspired by her.</p>
<p>She recently survived a gun attack near her home in Lahore. Malik was returning from a pharmacy when two shooters fired at her. The event occurred last week, and thankfully, she escaped unharmed. She said that she had received threatening phone calls and messages for her activism.

      </figure> <p>Transgender people face a lot of discrimination in Pakistan. For many, it’s difficult to find work. Some are forced to beg or dance in order to make money (that’s so sad!). So, Marvia Malik is trying to support the transgender community. Malik said that when she decided to make a name for herself in society, her family was not supportive.</p>
<p>She paid no attention to any discrimination and chased her dreams. So, she hopes that her example can be used to raise awareness about the community across the country. Also, she is looking to improve people's views of the transgender population. She said that transgender people are as capable of achieving anything as anyone else.</p>
<p>All they need is an opportunity to prove themselves.
</p> <h5>What are the transgender rights in India?</h5>  <p>Transgender rights in India have improved over time. In 2014, the Supreme Court of India recognised transgender people as a third gender. This granted them certain rights, such as access to education, work, and healthcare. A law was also passed in 2019 that gave transgenders protection against discrimination and violence.</p>
<p>Still, transgender people keep facing social stigma, discrimination, and violence in India. They are frequently denied jobs and those who manage to get a job earn less than their coworkers. </p>
<p>But, the country is changing. A lot of private and government offices have started employing them and treating them with respect.

</h5>  <p>We learned about a person who is trying to speak for the good of her community. Marvia Malik faced a lot of discrimination, yet she never backed down. Sometimes there is too much hate in this world. But, regardless of anyone’s gender, everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.
