A Special Birthday
On 6th July 2025, the Dalai Lama turned 90 years old. Thousands of monks, students, and visitors came to Dharamshala, India, to wish him a happy birthday.
They prayed, danced, and sang to celebrate the day. There was even a big 8-layer cake!
Leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former US President Barack Obama also sent good wishes.
This day was not just a birthday. It was a day to celebrate peace, love, and kindness.
Who Is the Dalai Lama?
The Dalai Lama is the leader of the Tibetan Buddhist religion.
“Dalai Lama” is a special title, not a name, and it means “Ocean of Wisdom.”
People believe the Dalai Lama is born again after death. This is called reincarnation.
The current Dalai Lama is the 14th Dalai Lama. His original name is Tenzin Gyatso. He was born in 1935 and became the 14th Dalai Lama when he was just 5 years old.
In 1959, he left his home in Tibet due to problems with China and moved to India. He now lives in Dharamshala and teaches peace to all.
Why Is He Loved?
The Dalai Lama teaches people to be kind, honest, and helpful.
He says the best way to be happy is to have a good heart.
Even though he cannot go back to Tibet, he works to protect its culture and nature.
He always says, “Talk for peace, don’t fight.”
What Has He Done?
In 1989, the Dalai Lama got the Nobel Peace Prize for teaching non-violence.
He teaches people how to stay calm, respect all religions, and take care of our Earth.
On his birthday, students planted trees, cleaned parks, and helped others as a part of the “Year of Compassion.”
What is The Future?
The Dalai Lama says he is healthy and wants to live till 130!
He has confirmed that after he dies, Tibetan monks will choose the next Dalai Lama.
His special message to all of us is: “Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.”
