But violence took place, and Israel became a country in 1948. Later, after the 1967 war, Israel took the West Bank and Gaza, which Palestinians want for their country.</p><h5>What Do They Want?</h5><p>Palestinians want their own country with the West Bank and Gaza, and East Jerusalem as the capital. They also want freedom from Israeli control.</p><p>Israel wants to be safe first. Some Palestinians follow the Palestinian Authority, and some follow Hamas in Gaza.</p><h5>The UN’s Solution</h5><p>In July 2025, the UN suggested a 15-month plan to make a Palestinian state. They also asked Hamas to give up weapons, rebuild Gaza, and stop fighting. In September 2025, the UN voted: 142 countries said yes, 10 said no, and 12 did not choose. Many countries support it, but no one can be forced to follow it.</p><h5>What’s Next?</h5><p>The future depends on leaders. Israelis need safety, and Palestinians need freedom. The UN and other countries could help rebuild homes and protect people.</p><p>If both sides keep promises, the next generation may grow up without war.</p>
