Building Stronger Ties

In April 2025, the Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, visited India for four days. He travelled with his wife, Usha Vance, and their children. This visit was special because Usha has Indian roots. For the Vance family, it was both a personal and an important political trip.

Why Did He Visit?

The main reason for the visit was to make the friendship between India and the United States stronger. Vice President Vance met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders. They talked about important things like trade (buying and selling between countries), clean energy (like solar and wind power), and working together in the future.

Why Are These Visits Important?

When leaders visit other countries, they build trust and show respect. Meeting face-to-face helps solve problems peacefully. It also helps countries make plans to work together better.
For example, the U.S. and India want to grow their trade to $500 billion by the year 2030. Visits like this help leaders make the deals needed to reach that goal.

What Topics Were Discussed?

One big topic was trade. Right now, there are high taxes (called tariffs) on many goods. India and the U.S. want to lower these taxes so that businesses can grow and people can buy things at better prices.
Another important topic was clean energy. India wants to use more solar, wind, and nuclear power to protect the environment. The United States wants to help by sharing technology and investing in new projects.

Enjoying Indian Culture

Besides the official meetings, the Vance family also enjoyed visiting famous places like the Taj Mahal. They even attended a wedding in Jaipur. These activities helped them understand and enjoy Indian culture.
Visits like this are not only about politics. They are also about friendship, learning about each other’s traditions, and building a peaceful future together.
