Cheems was a Shiba Inu dog and one of the most popular animals in the online world. His real name was Balltze. He recently passed away at the age of 12 due to cancer (oh no!). His owners announced his death on his official Instagram account.
They want everyone not to be sad. Instead, the fans should remember how happy he made them. They also thanked the medical staff who helped Balltze in his last few months.
How did Cheems become viral?
Balltze, also called Cheems, was adopted by his owners in Hong Kong when he was one year old. One of his owners, Kathy, thought he looked photogenic and cute. So, on 15th April 2015, she made an Instagram account to share his pictures and videos.
On 4th September 2017, his owner uploaded a photo of the dog sitting comfortably. A user in the comments said, "I don't know who this guy is, but he looks like Cheese." That's how Balltze became Cheems or Cheemsburger. One of his best-known meme appearances is ‘Swole Doge vs Cheems.’
