Signs of water on the red planet!

Guess what? Scientists have found some liquid water deep inside Mars's rocky outer crust. The discovery was made by studying NASA’s Mars InSight Lander data.

The lander carried a special tool to feel the marsquakes, which scientists studied. This helped them find liquid water hiding deep under the surface.

This is the first time we’ve found liquid water on Mars! How cool is that?

Between 2018 and 2022, the Mars InSight Lander recorded many marsquakes. Scientists used special tools to see how these marsquakes moved through Mars, helping them discover what was hiding under its surface.

These techniques are also used on Earth to find water or oil. Thanks to this study, liquid water was found in Mars’s crust, about 10 to 20 km down.

Right now, it’s really hard to reach the water hidden deep inside Mars. Drilling that deep is tough, but new technology might help us do it in the future.

However, this discovery is super exciting! It could help us find tiny Martian life and is a big step in exploring Mars and discovering cool new things!

About InSight Lander.

InSight's mission was to look inside Mars to learn about its crust, mantle, and core. It also helped scientists understand how rocky planets like Mars were formed a long, long time ago.

The lander was launched in 2018 and finished its mission in 2022.
