Last weekend, we invited our budding writers to tackle a thought-provoking question with real-world relevance: Should humans bring extinct species back to life using science and technology? The idea was sparked by this fascinating article about the potential return of the dire wolf. Read more here.

Participants were asked to share their perspectives through a short essay, exploring the ethical, environmental, and scientific implications of de-extinction.

This competition aimed to ignite curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and inspire students to engage with big questions about our planet’s past and future.

After carefully reading through all the insightful and compelling essays, we’re thrilled to announce our winners:

Winner:

Lavanya Sharma from Homerton Grammar School.
