AI is making music!?

Artificial intelligence (AI) can help people do many things. It can write poems, solve math problems, make videos, and even help make music, too!

Meet Suno and Udio, two startups that have developed AI tools to create music! One needs to type in some words, and the tools turn them into music - no music lessons needed!

However, both startups are facing legal issues.

What legal issues?

Big music companies like Sony, Universal, and Warner are suing Suno and Udio for breaking copyright laws.

The companies say Suno and Udio's AI uses their music as inspiration for making new songs. But the startups say they haven’t done anything wrong.

Let’s understand it better.

Suing means taking legal action against someone who has caused harm. For example, you might go to court if your friend breaks your toy without replacing it. The judge will decide if your friend should replace the toy or compensate you.

Copyright is a legal right for creators over their work, like music or paintings, which lets them control how it’s used.

Copyright violation happens when someone uses another person’s work without permission. For example, if you post artwork on Newsahoot and someone sells it on t-shirts without asking, that’s a copyright violation.

You can get legal help if this happens.
