Which company has InterGlobe Enterprises formed a partnership with?

InterGlobe Enterprises, the owner of IndiGo Airlines and US-based Archer Aviation, recently announced a partnership to start a new air taxi service in India. This special service will use electric aircraft and is expected to begin in 2026.

Some big cities in the country deal with a lot of traffic and pollution. Archer Aviation makes eVTOL aircraft, which are seen as the future of city transportation. The partnership plans to help buy up to 200 of these eVTOLs for use in India.

What do we know about the eVTOLs?

The eVTOLs, called "Midnight," have a range of 161 km and can carry a pilot and four passengers. It goes as fast as 241 km/hour, and you can take a long trip in just a few minutes. For example, a journey that usually takes 60 to 90 minutes by car in Delhi would only take about 7 minutes with these planes.

The aircraft has six battery packs, each powering two electric engines, making it safe to fly even if one pack fails. Midnight has four special computers to help the pilot with navigation and important information. The eVTOLs will be used first in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru in India.

Will they be only used to carry passengers?

InterGlobe also wants to use these planes to carry things, help in emergencies, and for logistics purposes. People can also book them for private flights.

Archer Aviation made a deal with the US Air Force to give them six Midnight planes. They also plan to start a special taxi service using these planes in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
