What are humanoid robots?

Humanoid robots are robots that copy how people move and act. They look similar to humans, with a head, body, arms, and legs. These robots can do many jobs, helping companies make more things and save money.

These robots can be used in different places, like power plants. They can help check and fix things. They can also do risky or dangerous jobs that people shouldn't do. Many companies are making these robots to help with all kinds of tasks. Amazon is also trying out humanoid robots.

Amazon is currently testing humanoid robots in their warehouses across the USA to improve customer delivery experience. The new humanoid robot is called Digit. It has arms and legs, just like humans, and it can move around and pick things up.

Digit can walk on two legs and use its arms to grab and carry stuff like packages and customer orders. A company called Agility Robotics made this robot.

Additionally, Amazon is testing Sequoia. It is a technology that will move and arrange inventory into containers for employees. The employees will then pick the things customers have purchased. Sequoia is being used in a fulfilment centre in Houston, Texas.

Sequoia is the name of a robot system that Amazon uses to containerise items. Mobile robots carry these containers to places where they can be refilled or taken to a worker who picks out the items that customers order.

After the orders are picked, the remaining items must be organised efficiently for storage. This is where Sparrow, a new robotic arm that’s part of the Sequoia system, comes in. It loads up the containers, which are then stored. Sequoia can help simplify and improve how Amazon stores items, help employees safely pick those goods, and speed up deliveries.

Some employees worry about the possibility of these robots replacing them in the future. However, Amazon says there will be no job cuts as people cannot be replaced.
