Android is the world's largest mobile operating system (OS), with over 3 billion Android devices. We have all seen the Android logo with the green robot. However, Google recently released a new look for the logo and the bugdroid (the name of the Android robot).

Before, the logo had a small 'a,' but now it has a capital 'A.' The new design is similar to how Google's logo is written.

The names of the Android versions have also been changed. Instead of fancy names like Android Lollipop, simple names like Android 14 are used. This makes it easier to understand. Google also released an entirely new three-dimensional (3D) look for the bugdroid.

The company thinks the Android logo should look like how Google wants to be seen, which is open and inclusive. That's why Google changed the design to represent the Android community better.

They also made the bugdroid look more fun to match Android. From this year itself, the new Android design logo and the 3D bugdroid will appear on Android smartphones and in other places.

Why do companies rebrand?

Imagine you have a favourite toy. Later, it might start to look old and boring. Well, the same thing can happen to companies. So, they wish to look new and fresh to attract customers.

Sometimes, companies even change what they do. For example, they used to sell clothes but decided to sell food instead. So, they change their appearance to show everyone what they're doing now.

Companies also use their logo and design to send various messages. They like to update their design in order to stay better connected with their customers.

These are some reasons why companies rebrand. We all remember that Twitter also changed its name and logo to “X.” What do you think about the new Android logo and bugdroid? Tell us in the comment section.
