<h5>What is the history of Formula 1?</h5>  <p>Formula 1 (F1) is the most-renowned car-racing event in the world. The term ‘Formula 1’ refers to a set of rules negotiated by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in 1946. All participants and cars have to comply with these rules while competing in the event. </p>
<p>Although motorcar racing events have been taking place since the 1920s-30s, the first ever F1 race took place in Silverstone, England, in 1950.</p> <h5>What happens in a Formula 1 season?</h5>  <p>Around 15-20 races are held in a Formula 1 season. Each race is called a ‘Grand Prix’ (GP), which is a French word for ‘Great Prize’. Each GP is hosted in a different country and is named after it, for example, Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. </p>
<p>In a GP, the minimum distance covered by an F1 car is anywhere between 260-300 km. Every race lasts for approximately 90 minutes and is held over the weekend. Some races take place on public roads, while others on specially-designed race tracks, called ‘circuits’. </p>
<p>The first car to cross the finish line after making a predetermined number of laps around the racing track is declared the winner of the race. The results of all Grand Prix races are the basis for deciding the winners of two annual championship awards, i.e. the Driver’s Championship Award and the Constructors’ Championship Award.</p>
<p>The fast, thrilling, and unpredictable nature of Formula 1 races is what brings people to watch them. An F1 race car has open wheels, an open cockpit, and a single seat for the driver. These cars can travel at an average speed of 300 kmph. They are capable of racing even in rainy weather.</p> <h5>What is new about the 2023 season?</h5>  <p>The 2023 F1 season, which kicked off in Bahrain recently, is the longest one. It will take place between March 4 to November 26, 2023. This season will witness 23 races in 20 countries and five continents. The 2023 league will have six sprint races instead of the usual three. An F1 Sprint is a 100 km race lasting 25-30 minutes. </p>
<p>This year, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) has introduced many changes to the F1 rules. It has reduced the working hours of the F1 crew members, increased the minimum ride height, reduced the minimum weight of cars, improved rear-view mirror visibility, etc.</p>
<p>There are ten participating teams this season, i.e. Alfa Romeo, AlphaTauri, Alpine, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Haas, McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull, and Williams. Each team will send two drivers to participate in the races. </p>
