China’s Chang’e-6 returns

Imagine going on an amazing journey to the Moon! That’s what China did with its Chang’e-6 space mission. This mission is super exciting because it brought back rocks from the Moon's far side for the very first time!

The Chang’e-6 spacecraft travelled all the way to the Moon and landed on the far side. This part of the Moon always faces away from Earth and is full of craters.

After landing there, the spacecraft collected rocks and soil and brought them back to Earth. They are the first-ever samples from the Moon’s far side.

Why does this matter?

Scientists are very curious about these Moon rocks. They think these rocks can help us learn more about how the Moon and Earth were formed.

The far side of the Moon might even have clues about water and other important resources.
