Birthdays in class!

Isn’t it awesome when we celebrate someone’s birthday in class? It’s free toffees and chocolates for all of us, and we get to sing the birthday song for our classmates.

But, recently, something strange happened in a school in Hyderabad. Some students refused to take chocolates from their classmate on his birthday. Isn’t that crazy?

Who refuses chocolates from friends?

Anyone can refuse to eat chocolates if they contain something that they are allergic to, like nuts. But this wasn’t the case here.

In this class, the kids did not take the chocolates because they were being distributed by a student who was Muslim. These students said their parents had asked them not to eat anything given to them by people of that religion.

Such a sad situation.

All the birthday boy wanted to do was celebrate his birthday with his classmates. Instead, he became a victim of discrimination against religion. Imagine how hurt the birthday boy must have felt!

We must all remember that someone’s religion is an extremely personal choice. We should never treat someone differently just because they follow a particular religion. This is a very bad and hurtful thing to do.

We are all humans and deserve to be treated respectfully and equally. :)
