Who is Cristiano Ronaldo?
Cristiano Ronaldo was born in Madeira, Portugal on 5th February 1985. He is a Portuguese footballer said to be one of the best of all time. He began his career with Clube Desportivo Nacional before moving on to Sporting Lisbon, where he made his debut in 2002. After a successful season with Sporting, Ronaldo joined Manchester United in 2003. He played for Manchester United until 2009, after which he joined Real Madrid. In July 2018, he joined Juventus (a football club in Italy) and in 2021 returned to Manchester United.
Ronaldo made his national team debut for Portugal in August 2003. He helped Portugal win the European Championship in 2016. Ronaldo is playing for Portugal in this year’s World Cup. Recently, he left Manchester United.
Why did he leave Manchester United?
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United in 2021. He scored 24 goals in the first season after his return. However, his second season wasn’t good. Due to a change in manager and the team's playing style, he was removed from the starting lineup.
Ronaldo went through some serious personal issues in his family earlier in the year. He said in an interview that the club officials at Manchester United were not very understanding of his problems. The club and Ronaldo both felt that they should respectfully part ways. Ronaldo thinks it’s time for him to look for a new challenge.

Cristiano Ronaldo is said to be one of the greatest footballers in history. He holds the record for the most Champions League goals scored (140 goals). In his career, he has scored 818 goals.
He has also won the Ballon d'Or award 5 times and is Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer (451 goals). He has won 30 trophies for his clubs and 2 trophies with Portugal (wow!!). But as he gets older (he's 37 now), he's getting close to the end of his football career.
