Ambassador raises complaint!

Danish Ambassador Freddy Svane shared a video on social media, complaining about garbage dumped behind the Danish Embassy in Delhi and also pointing out the lack of cleanup efforts.

A foreign official complaining about garbage pile-ups harms our country's image. It also reminds us to keep our surroundings clean.

After the video, the New Delhi Municipal Committee (NDMC) quickly cleaned up the area. Ambassador Svane thanked them for it.

Improper garbage disposal harms the environment by damaging spaces like gardens and streets.

The waste can also contaminate oceans and rivers with harmful chemicals and cause marine life to die.

The garbage can also break down and release harmful chemicals into the soil. This can affect the environment, harming plants, animals, and humans.

A garbage-filled area can become a breeding ground for mosquitos and flies, which spread diseases. The place will also smell and look bad.

What can we do?

We should use garbage bins instead of throwing garbage everywhere and encourage others to do the same to maintain a clean environment.

If you see garbage piling up in your neighbourhood, you can report it to the local authorities; they can take action to fix it.

You can also throw any garbage you find in trash bins, like bottles or wrappers. Wash your hands afterwards, and avoid handling toxic waste on your own.
