Plastic waste - a growing problem!
Plastic waste is a big problem as it takes a long time to break down. During this time, it can release harmful chemicals into the soil and water, harming the environment, animals, and humans.
It can also cause the death of various sea creatures like fish and turtles. So steps are being taken to raise awareness and reduce plastic waste with projects like garbage cafés.
Garbage Cafés! What’s that?

Cafés are places for meeting friends and eating good food. But garbage cafés? That's new!
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) started garbage cafés to protect the environment and teach people about plastic waste disposal.
People can bring various amounts of plastic waste, like empty plastic bottles or other plastic materials, to these cafés and get a meal voucher for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
So it’s just like buying food but with plastic waste instead of money!
The cafés give all their collected plastic waste to a municipal organisation that recycles the waste.
Importance of recycling plastic.

Plastic recycling means turning old plastic into new things. This helps keep plastic waste out of oceans and landfills.
Recycling plastic waste also helps save the resources, like oil and water, needed to make new plastic products.
Still, we need more awareness efforts and government actions to further reduce plastic waste.
