Humans went to Mars?
Have you ever thought about living on Mars? It sounds like something from a cool space movie, doesn’t it? Well, NASA did something amazing! They sent four people to Mars for a whole year!
But guess what? They didn’t go to Mars. Instead, they lived in a Mars-simulated environment created by the organisation.
The astronauts stayed there for 378 days as part of the Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog (CHAPEA) mission to experience life on Mars. How awesome is that?

What was the artificial habitat like?
Four people got to pretend they were living on Mars! They stayed in a big, cool, 3D-printed habitat that was made to look like Mars.
Inside, they had everything they needed: beds, a kitchen to cook yummy food, bathrooms, and even places to exercise, work, and grow plants!
What did the crew do?
On their pretend Mars adventure, the crew had lots of fun! They walked on the surface of fake Mars, mixed up their space home, exercised, and grew their own plants.
Sometimes, they had little problems like running out of supplies, which made it more exciting!
The mission helped scientists learn how living on Mars might affect astronauts and how they can stay healthy and happy.
About CHAPEA missions.
CHAPEA is a series of missions aimed at imitating year-long stays on Mars' surface. Each mission will include four members living in the artificially created habitat named Mars Dune Alpha.
Inside, they would be doing experiments to help scientists learn how to live on another planet. Two more missions will take place after the first one, with the next one starting in 2025.
