<h5>How technologically advanced is Japan?</h5>  <p>Japan is a country that takes its technology very seriously. Many say that visiting Japan is like taking a time machine into the future. That’s because everyday life in Japan is very technologically advanced. Some examples of this are:</p>
<p>1. Super-fast bullet trains that travel hundreds of kilometres within an hour.
2. Vending machines for everything - food, umbrellas, underwear, etc.</p>
<p>3. Super fancy and complex home appliances - the best in the world!
</p> <h5>How come Japan’s so good with technology?</h5>  <p>There are two reasons for Japan being a world leader in technology:</p>
<p>1. After it lost World War II, Japan wasn’t allowed to have an army for a long time. The money and innovation that other countries invested in their military, Japan invested in discovering new technology and building factories. 
2. There is a shortage of young people who can take up jobs such as repairing stuff, assembling cars, waiting tables, etc. So, the Japanese people try to make technology that can do such jobs.
</p> <h5>Robots, robots, everywhere!</h5>  <p>If you went to a mall or a restaurant in India, and a robot walked up to you and asked you for your order, your eyes would pop out of your head. In Japan, this is a normal thing to happen. It was the first country to develop robots that look, talk and act like humans.
Some roles that robots in Japan play:</p>
<p>1. Caretakers/ security guards: Robots take care of many elderly citizens in Japan. They live with them at home, check their health and arrange for them to go to the hospital if they need medical attention.
2. Butlers: A robot that does housework like laundry, cleaning dishes, etc.</p>
<p>3. Waiters: Robots that take your food order in a restaurant.</p>
<p>Other than these, there are also nurse robots, baby robots (yes, that’s a thing!), astronaut robots (robots in space), etc.

      </figure> <p>The news of Japan’s latest robot is straight out of the Transformers movies. It’s a giant worker robot that carries out tasks which are considered too dangerous for humans. This robot was developed by a railway company called West Japan Rail Company (JR West) to fix railway power lines.</p>

The robot can lift 40 kg heavy objects up to 10 metres high. The coolest part is that it is operated by a pilot wearing a virtual reality headset. This means that a human is controlling the robot’s movements remotely and the robot is getting a ton of important and hazardous work done.
</p> <h5>What if an evil genius decides to take over the world with these giant robots?</h5>  <p>That stuff only happens in movies (hopefully). As of now, this robot is making life very convenient. The railway power lines are too high for humans to reach and work on safely. If they fall, they get severely injured or die. They also risk electrocution.</p>
<p>The robot has the potential to be useful in many industries, not just the railways. However, as of now, it’s just a prototype. In some time, it will hit the market where people and organisations will be able to buy it.</p>
<p>The day will come soon when gigantic robots are walking around, doing difficult tasks and making life easy for us all.
