What changes have been announced?

In classes 9 and 10, students will learn three languages. Two will be Indian languages. When they are in classes 11 and 12, they will study two languages, and one will be Indian.

Students will get two chances every year to take board exams. This is so they have lots of time to do well and can keep their highest scores. For example, if a student gets 80 in math on one test and 85 on another, they can keep the higher score.

Board exams will be easier and less stressful. The tests will focus on how well students understand things, not just how much they can memorise. Currently, students in classes 9 to 12 must study five mandatory subjects, with the option of adding one more. Now, they must study seven compulsory subjects for classes 9 and 10 and six for classes 11 and 12.

Textbooks will cost less too. The people who make and grade board exams will take special classes to get better. The new plan also says that students in classes 11 and 12 can choose between different subjects instead of only arts, science, or commerce. These are some of the announced changes.

What is the National Education Policy?

On 29th July 2020, the NEP 2020 was announced. This policy suggests many changes in school and college education. The policy also aims to improve the country’s education system by 2030.
