<h5>Where is India’s first underwater metro located?</h5><p>Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi recently inaugurated India's first underwater metro in Kolkata, West Bengal. The Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section is a new addition to the city’s metro transportation network.</p><p>This section is said to be India's first underwater metro tunnel, located under the Hoogly River. This river separates Kolkata and Howrah. It also has the country's deepest metro station, the Howrah Metro Station.</p><p>Constructing this metro route from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade shows exceptional engineering talent. It also represents an important step in India's metro development.</p><p>The Howrah Maidan-Esplanade is an important part of the city’s East-West Metro line. This metro line will connect Howrah Maidan with other important places, like Sealdah, Salt Lake Sector V, etc.</p><p>After the inauguration, PM Modi also rode the metro from Esplanade to Howrah Maidan, accompanied by schoolchildren. The stretch from Salt Lake Sector V to Sealdah is open. Kolkata Metro intends to launch the entire East-West route between Salt Lake Sector V and Howrah Maidan in June or July.</p>
