What is the Asia Cup?
The Asia Cup is a cricket tournament for teams from Asia. It started in 1984 in the One Day International (ODI) format. However, recent editions have switched between the ODI and Twenty20 formats.
This year was the 16th edition of the tournament. Pakistan and Sri Lanka co-hosted it. Six teams, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka (divided into two groups), participated in the tournament. This was Nepal’s debut in this tournament.
The tournament was held from 30th August 2023 to 17th September 2023. India made it to the final and won.
Who did India face in the final match?

India defeated Sri Lanka in the finals. Sri Lanka only scored 50 runs. India chased that score in just 6.1 overs. India won the game with 263 balls left to be bowled. This was India's biggest win in ODI history while chasing a target. It also set a record for the biggest win in a final match of an ODI tournament in terms of balls left.
India has won the Asia Cup eight times, more than any other team. Sri Lanka is in second place with six titles.
How was India’s performance in this tournament?

India was in Group A with Pakistan and Nepal. Their match against Pakistan ended without a result due to rain. But they won against Nepal and moved to the Super Four round. In this round, India beat Pakistan and Sri Lanka to reach the finals.
India played together as a team and showed great teamwork and determination. India’s Shubman Gill scored the most runs in the tournament. Mohammed Siraj took ten wickets.
During the match against Pakistan, Virat Kohli became the fifth player to score 13,000 ODI runs. He did it faster than anyone else. Kuldeep Yadav was named the ‘Player of the Tournament’. These things show how great India did in the tournament.
