<h5>What is the Indian army doing?</h5>  <p>Faced with the threat of drones, the Indian Army has trained kites and dogs to hunt enemy drones as a team (that’s incredible!). During the recently concluded military exercise "Yudh Abhyas" between India and the United States of America (USA), the use of the two trained animals was shown.</p>

During the joint training exercise, a kite named "Arjun" was shown in action hunting down enemy drones. In a first-of-its-kind application of these birds, the Indian Army is employing trained kites to hunt down hostile drones.       </figure> <p>The animals were shown in action at the “Yudh Abhyas” joint training exercise of India and the USA in Auli, Uttarakhand. During the exercise, a situation was created by the Indian army in which a kite and a dog were used to locate and destroy enemy drones. How do they hunt down the drones, you ask?</p>
<p>The dog listens for drone sounds and warns the Indian army after hearing such sounds (such an intelligent dog!). Then the kite works to locate and destroy the enemy's drone in the air. In this way, these animals can help our country’s security forces in combating the threat of drones entering Indian territories like Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
Drones from Pakistan have been said to have dropped packages of drugs, firearms, and money in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. The trained animals can help put a stop to this.</p> <h5>What is Yudh Abhyas?</h5> <figure>

      </figure> <p>Exercise Yudh Abhyas is a joint military exercise that is conducted annually between the armies of India and the USA. The 18th edition of this military exercise took place in Uttarakhand from 19th November 2022 to 3rd December 2022. The goal of the exercise is to share best practices, tactics, techniques, etc., between the two armies.
The exercise also included training on a wide range of combat skills. The exercise allowed both armies to share their diverse experiences, talents, and techniques used for different military operations.</p> <h5>Are other animals also trained for various roles in the armed forces?</h5>  <p>For ages, animals have been used for various purposes in different armed forces. Elephants were used in wars during ancient times. Horses have also been used during wars in history as cavalry units. Pigeons were used to send messages during wars.</p>

Camels are still used as military patrols in deserts and mountains in many places around the world. Dogs have also been used as scouts on battlefields. Today's combat dogs mostly serve as couriers, trackers, scouts, etc. They are also used to track and find drugs, bombs, etc. You must have seen such police dogs in airports and stations, right?</p> <h5>What did we learn from this article?</h5>  <p>We learned that animals are very intelligent creatures and they can be trained to perform different tasks.
