These countries are trying to help come up with a solution to ensure the war ends. The plan envisions a 40-day ceasefire during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which begins around 10th March 2024.</p><p>The plan includes that Israel and Hamas will agree to a ceasefire. Israel would pull troops from populated areas of Palestine and stop drone surveillance for eight hours a day. Hamas would release 40 Israeli hostages, including women, children, young adults under 19, people over the age of 50, and the sick. In exchange, Israel must free 400 inmates.</p><p>Israel must also allow trucks of humanitarian goods (like food and medicines) into Gaza every day and tents and caravans to house displaced people. Additionally, fuel and equipment must be allowed entry to help rebuild hospitals and other essential places.</p><h5>Have Israel and Hamas agreed to this ceasefire deal?</h5><p>A senior Hamas official has expressed doubt about the immediate possibility of a ceasefire pact with Israel. He said there is still a long way to go before an agreement can be reached. Israel and Hamas both have representatives in Qatar currently and are discussing a possible truce.</p><p>However, no breakthrough has been made yet. The Hamas official also said that countries like Egypt, Qatar, the USA, Russia, etc., and the United Nations must ensure that Israel follows all agreements if one is reached in the future. A previous ceasefire deal in November 2023 lasted for only seven days.</p><p>This shows there’s a long way before a ceasefire deal can be agreed upon.
