<p>Aside from his career in wrestling, John Cena is also involved in philanthropy. In 2019, he donated $500,000 to California's firefighters and first responders. The 45-year-old wrestling champion was also in-charge of an anti-bullying campaign by the WWE.
In 2002, he became involved with the Make-a-Wish Foundation and has been helping them ever since.</p> <h5>What is the Make-a-Wish foundation?</h5>  <p>Make-a-Wish is a non-profit organisation founded in 1980. This organization has a rather sweet and wholesome goal! It's on a mission to grant life-changing wishes to children (aged 2-18) who suffer from terminal illnesses.</p>
<p>But why does this foundation choose to grant wishes? Why not help these children in other ways? This is because for children, having a wish come true can really lift their spirits and help them fight their disease! These children are very sick and don’t get a normal childhood like the rest of us. They may not be able to go to school or even leave the hospital!
The Make-a-Wish foundation grants one wish to each of these children. Some common wishes that children want are to visit a special theme park, to attend a concert or even to gift something special to someone!</p>
<p>Most of the wishes involve children meeting their favourite celebrities and pop stars. Some of these stars include Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Dwayne Johnson and Snoop Dogg.

<p>When Cena visits the foundation, he often brings along the WWE championship belts he’s won during his career as a wrestler. He hangs out with his young fans and even poses for pictures with them. Sometimes he also takes children to nearby wrestling rings!</p> <h5>Did he really set a world record?</h5>  <p>Yes, John Cena was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for the most wishes granted through the Make-A-Wish foundation. He has granted 650 children their wish of meeting him! No single person has ever granted more than 200 wishes at the foundation.
In 2012, Cena granted the foundation’s 1000th wish to a fan named Cardon. Now, 10 years later, in 2022, he has broken a world record and brought happiness to so many children.

He says that he wants to give children an experience that will stay with them forever. He thinks that these meetings are a fantastic experience for him and the kids.</p>
