The importance of water!
Water is essential for humans as it keeps us hydrated, quenches our thirst, aids digestion, and regulates body temperature.
As the summer season begins, we must drink lots of water. So Kerala schools have recently introduced water breaks.
Water breaks! What’s new in that?
The Kerala government has introduced a water-bell system in state government schools to encourage children to drink water.
The bell will ring at 10.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m., signalling a five-minute break to drink water.
But this doesn't mean that students will not be allowed to drink water at other times. They can drink water anytime they want. This plan will ensure that students drink plenty of water.

Effects of drinking less water
When we're hot, our brain tells our body to sweat and cool off. But if we are dehydrated, we cannot sweat enough to cool down!
Also, not drinking enough water can cause headaches and other illnesses. So, it’s better to start drinking water and avoid all these illnesses.
How much water students must consume?
Students often forget to drink enough water and return home from school with full water bottles. That’s not good!
With rising temperatures, staying healthy requires drinking plenty of water. Boys and girls aged 4 to 8 must drink 1.1 to 1.3 litres of water daily.
Do you think the ‘water-bell’ plan should be started in your school? Tell us in the comments.
