<h5>Wars are bad!</h5><p>War is one of the worst things that happen on this planet. It destroys everything in its path - cities, environments, lives, etc.</p><p>Can you imagine if you and your family were forced to run away from home, friends, and school because of a war? That doesn't sound good, does it!?</p><p>Well, this is exactly what has been happening in Gaza for the last few months due to the war between <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.newsahoot.com/articles/israel-hamas-ceasefire-what-do-we-know">Israel</a> and <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.newsahoot.com/articles/israel-s-iron-dome-overwhelmed-by-repeated-attacks">Hamas</a>. Photo by United Nations.</figcaption></figure><p>Yes and no. The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) passed a resolution for a temporary ceasefire in Gaza. All hostages also must be allowed to return to their homes.</p><p>This development comes after all members of the UNSC voted in its favour. They also have deep political, diplomatic, economic, and military ties.</p><p>The US and four other permanent member countries (China, France, the United Kingdom, and Russia) have veto power in the UNSC. This means that they can stop any resolution from passing if they are against it.</p><p>Earlier, the US used its veto power to block the ceasefire. The US didn’t vote against the resolution this time, but they didn’t support it either.</p><h5>Will Israel follow the decision?</h5><p>All countries must follow the UNSC’s diktat or face the consequences of their actions. Now, it is upon Israel to mend their ways.</p><p>The Palestinians have already seen so much destruction and loss of life. We can only hope that there is a permanent end to the war in the near future.&nbsp;</p>
