<h5>What is the situation in Pakistan?</h5>  <p>Pakistan is currently going through one of its worst natural disasters - a flood of extraordinary scale. An unending rainfall has created a climate catastrophe that has caused floods to submerge homes, destroy farmland, and displace millions of people.
There have been at least 1,136 deaths as a result of flooding and severe rains since mid-June, according to the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA). The NDMA has also said that flash floods have destroyed over 3,000 kilometres of road, 130 bridges, and around 5 lac houses. Sherry Rehman, Pakistan’s climate minister, has said that one-third of the nation is underwater.
The floods taking place right now are being compared to the floods that happened in 2010 (that killed almost 2000 people). The Government of Pakistan has declared an emergency and has requested foreign aid to help control the situation.</p> <h5>That’s very sad! Who is helping the Pakistani people?</h5> <figure>

      </figure> <p>The Government of Pakistan has asked the Navy and Army to help in rescue and relief efforts. Soldiers and rescue teams are helping stranded civilians by giving them food and helping them reach relief shelters. </p>
<p>Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, has also been helping the people of his country. Recently, he dropped supplies from a helicopter in areas that were hard to reach due to excessive flooding. 
Volunteers are also helping flood victims by distributing tents, food, and drinkable water sent by the NDMA. The United Nations (UN) has also asked countries across the world to help flood victims in Pakistan. </p> <h5>Is there any international help coming?</h5> <figure>

      </figure> <p>Pakistan has started receiving international aid. Turkey and the United Arab Emirates have sent planes carrying tents, food, and other necessities.</p>
<p>The UN has also allocated $3 million to help the people of Pakistan. This money will be utilised in flood-affected regions for health, nutrition, drinking water, etc.</p>
<p>China, the United States and the United Kingdom have also reached out and contributed to Pakistan. The Indian government is also discussing how it can help Pakistan.
</p> <h5>What is the reason for such a devastating flood in Pakistan?</h5>  <p>Climate change is the main cause behind the severe flooding in Pakistan. According to a recent study, monsoon in South Asia has become more intense and unpredictable due to global warming. </p>
<p>There is some good news though! The monsoon season is coming to an end and there is no prediction of heavy rainfall in the next few days. Perhaps, the worst is behind us.</p>
