Pakistan’s new notes!

The State Bank of Pakistan,  the country’s central bank, is trying something different with its money. They plan to test a new type of polymer plastic currency, or banknote.

The new note will be released in one denomination. If the public likes it, it will be made in other denominations.

They’re also giving their old paper money a makeover. By the end of this year, the newly redesigned paper notes will have cool new security features.

Polymer currency notes are made from a special type of plastic. Australia started using it first, and now about 40 countries do, too!

Here’s why this type of note is super cool:

  • Super Safe: It has better features, like holograms, making them hard to copy.
  • Tough and Long-Lasting: It’s stronger than paper money and lasts a long time.
  • Waterproof and Clean: It doesn’t get wet or dirty and is easy to wipe clean.
  • Recyclable: When old plastic notes are no longer needed, they can be torn down and turned into new things like flowerpots.

But, plastic money isn’t perfect. It can be tricky to fold and might get sticky if it gets wet.

Does India use polymer plastic currency?

India doesn’t use plastic money yet. Our money is made from special paper, and the government isn’t planning to switch to plastic money right now.

But some experts think plastic money is a great idea! They say it could help stop fake money because plastic notes are harder to copy.

Wouldn’t it be cool if India used plastic money someday?
