About Paralympics 2024.

The Paralympic Games are a super cool sports event where athletes with disabilities show their amazing abilities.

The first Paralympic Games were held in 1960 and have been held every four years since then. This year, the event is being held in Paris, France, from 28th August to 8th September 2024.

Indians win many medals.

Eighty-four amazing para-athletes are making India proud at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. They’re competing in 12 different sports and, as of this writing, have already won seven medals—one gold, two silver, and four bronze!

Meet the Champions:

Avani Lekhara: She won gold in shooting! Avani is the first Indian woman to win two gold medals in Paralympic history, having won gold in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. She was in a car accident at 11, which paralysed her, but she never gave up.

Mona Agarwal: She scored a bronze medal in shooting. Even though she had polio as a baby, she worked hard to win!

Preethi Pal: She won two bronze medals in running! Preethi was born with weak legs but always chased her dreams. She became the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic medals in track and field events.

Manish Narwal: He won silver in shooting. Even with a problem in his right hand, he aimed high and succeeded!

Rubina Francis: She earned bronze in shooting, too. Despite having a leg problem, she practised hard and won!

Nishad Kumar: He won silver in the high jump. After losing his hand when he was young, he worked hard and made us proud!

The medal’s table.

When writing this, China leads the medal table. Great Britain holds second place, followed by the USA in third. Currently, India ranks 27th on the medal table.
