<h5>Who is PV Sindhu?</h5>  <p>Pusarla Venkata Sindhu or PV Sindhu, for short, is a badminton champion from India. She hails from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh. She first came into the limelight when she made a place for herself in the Top 20 World Ranking of badminton at the young age of 17!</p>
<p>The Badminton World Federation (BWF) ranks players who play in their matches. According to them, PV Sindhu is currently ranked as World No. 7.
The biggest moment of Sindhu's career came in 2016. This is the year when she became the first and the youngest female athlete from India to win a silver medal at Rio Olympics. She later went on to win a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.</p> <h5>What is the Singapore Open?</h5>  <p>The Singapore Open is one of the fourteen tournaments conducted by the BWF as a part of its World Tour. It is also part of the Singapore Open championships, which had been held since 1987.
This year, PV Sindhu won her maiden Singapore Open title! She won against China’s Wang Zhi in an intense match that lasted for 58 minutes. Previously, she beat Wang in the All England Opener in March this year.
</p> <h5>Why was this win important for PV Sindhu?</h5>  <p>All wins are important, whether big or small! But winning the Singapore Open 2022 was very important for PV Sindhu. Why? What was special about this tournament?
Some may think that winning a Singapore Open wouldn’t be such a big deal for Sindhu. After all, she’s been a former world champion, has two Olympic medals, and has multiple medals across world championships, including Commonwealth and Asian Games. Many of these tournaments are seen as far more competitive than the Singapore Open.</p>
<p>Winning the Singapore Open was important because of its timing. Sindhu won it after a rough stretch and back-to-back losses to her nemesis, Tai Tzu. This is her first big win since the world championship win in 2019.
Evidently, her hard work and perseverance are finally paying off. This may just be the beginning of her winning streak.</p> <h5>What’s next for Sindhu?</h5>  <p>Fans and sports enthusiasts all over the world congratulated Sindhu on her win. Even Mr Narendra Modi, our Prime Minister, congratulated her by saying that it is a proud moment for our country. And it is indeed!</p>
