What do we know about this robot?

On 30th June 2023, a robot named EveR 6 conducted a performance with the National Orchestra of Korea. EveR 6 has two arms and no legs.

It played two music programs alone and joined a human conductor, Soo-Yeoul Choi, for the final act.

EveR 6 can move its arms in different ways using separate joints in its neck, shoulders, elbows, and wrists.

What are the limitations of EveR 6?

EveR 6 uses “motion capture” technology to learn how people and objects move. But it can only do a few moves. It also can’t think on its own as it doesn't have artificial intelligence (AI). Another limitation of EveR 6 is it can't hear. Ideally, a conductor should be able to listen to the orchestra to control them perfectly.

Robots can now conduct orchestras. What else would you like to see them do?
