<h5>What is the history of the Rubik’s cube?</h5><p>In 1974, a young Hungarian architect named Ernő Rubik wanted to teach his students the concept of three-dimensional (3D) movements. To do so, he took blocks of cubes constructed of wood and paper and tied them together with rubber bands, glue, and paper clips. But, the one who was most surprised by its increased popularity was the inventor himself. He thought his invention would only attract science, math, or engineering students. He was surprised to know that people from every background love to play with the puzzle.</p><p>The cube gained popularity due to its addictive nature. Solving it has become a popular hobby for individuals of all ages. The cube has also created a competitive sport called speedcubing. Video by Max Park.</figcaption></figure></div><p>Max Park of the United States of America (USA) has broken the record for the fastest time to complete a Rubik’s cube puzzle. The 21-year-old set a new record of 3.13 seconds. This is 0.34 seconds faster than the previous record set by China's Yusheng Du in 2018. Max broke the record on 11th June 2023 at an event in California, USA.</p><p>Before this, Max's quickest solve time was 3.63 seconds. After Ernő Rubik designed the cube, it took him a month to solve his puzzle. Now, we have youngsters breaking world records and solving the puzzle in the blink of an eye.</p><h5>What do we know about Max Park?</h5><p>Max Park was born in California, USA, on 28th November 2001. He was diagnosed with autism when he was just two years old. His parents were informed that he might require lifetime care. The autism restricted Park's fine motor skills. He was unable to do small tasks like opening a water bottle.</p><p>So, to improve his fine motor skills, his mother taught him how to solve a Rubik's cube that he had developed an interest in. From there, he started learning and taking part in speedcubing contests. Participating in speedcubing contests also helped him develop social skills like waiting for his turn, saying “I am ready” to the officials, etc.</p><p>He has come a long way since then and now holds many speedcubing records. This makes him a speedcubing legend.</p><h5>What did we learn from this article?</h5><p>Max Park’s autism did not limit his abilities. He worked hard, practised, overcame his challenges, and is now breaking records. This shows that no matter how different you are from others or what challenges you are facing, you can work hard to improve your abilities and talents.</p><p>Many people celebrated Max’s success in the tournament. They were very happy to see Max break the world record. This can teach us that we must encourage and support others and recognise their achievements. It can help build a healthy society around us.</p>
