<h5>A Growing Problem in Space</h5><p>Satellites help us in many ways. They help us use the internet, talk on phones, use GPS, and know the weather. Every year, thousands of new satellites are sent into space.</p><p>But scientists say that too many satellites may be harming Earth’s atmosphere. If this problem is not stopped, it could damage the ozone layer and affect Earth’s climate.</p><h5>What Is the Problem?</h5><p>The problem comes from sending satellites into space and bringing them back after use.</p><p>Most modern satellites are made to work for only about five years. After that, they are pushed back toward Earth and burn up in the air. This helps reduce space junk, but it creates a new problem by causing pollution high above Earth.</p><p>Rockets also create pollution. When rockets are launched, they release harmful gases and tiny particles into the upper atmosphere. This pollution stays there for a long time and is very hard to clean as it is very high above the Earth.</p><h5>Why Is This Dangerous?</h5><p>When satellites burn up, the aluminium inside them turns into very tiny particles called aluminium oxide nanoparticles. These particles stay in the atmosphere for many years. Slowly, they move down to the ozone layer.</p><p>The ozone layer protects Earth from harmful UV rays from the Sun. The aluminium particles destroy this ozone again and again, making the ozone layer thinner. When the ozone layer becomes weak, more harmful rays reach Earth. This can cause skin problems, eye problems, and harm plants and sea animals.</p><p>Rocket launches also release black carbon. This traps heat and can disturb wind patterns in the sky, which may affect Earth’s climate.</p><h5>Numbers That Worry Scientists</h5><p>The number of satellites is growing very fast. In 2015, there were about 1,200 satellites in space. By 2025, the number grew to around 12,000. Scientists say that in the future, there could be more than 100,000 satellites in space!</p><p>Satellite burn-ups are also increasing. In 2019, about 115 satellites burned up. By 2024, nearly 950 satellites burned up in just one year!</p><p>In 2022, about 17 metric tonnes of aluminium oxide were released into the atmosphere when satellites burned up. Scientists say this amount could become much larger in the coming years if nothing is done.</p><h5>Can This Be Fixed?</h5><p>Scientists say there is still time to reduce the harm.</p><p>Some scientists are testing satellites made from different materials that cause less pollution. Others suggest making satellites that can come back to Earth safely without burning.</p><p>Scientists also want countries to make rules to control satellite launches. Satellites are very important in modern times, but protecting Earth’s atmosphere is very important too.</p>

Scientists warn that the rapid increase in satellite launches and burn-ups is releasing harmful pollutants into the upper atmosphere, weakening the ozone layer and raising concerns about long-term climate effects.
