What is Polaris Dawn?
On 10th September 2024, a SpaceX rocket blasted off from Florida, USA! Onboard were billionaire Jared Isaacman and three others. They are on a super cool mission called Polaris Dawn.
This mission is notable because under it, the world’s first private spacewalk will be held. Reports say this spacewalk will happen today.
The crew includes Isaacman, Scott Poteet, Sarah Gillis, and Anna Menon. Isaacman and Gillis will go out into space, while Poteet and Menon will stay inside the spaceship to ensure everything’s okay.
Objectives of this mission.
The Polaris Dawn mission is aiming for a fantastic goal: achieving the highest Earth orbit ever flown! They want to see what space does to our bodies so they can prepare for even bigger adventures!
After this, the spaceship will drop to a lower orbit so the crew can do the big spacewalk. They’ll be testing super cool SpaceX spacesuits that could one day be used on missions to Mars, the Moon, and even farther!
They’re also testing new communication methods to improve space communication. This tech could make talking to astronauts on the Moon and Mars easier!
