Where is this cycling track located?
Many people enjoy riding bicycles. Some do it for fun, to stay healthy, or to go places. But it can be tough to ride a cycle in a big city. People fear getting hit by cars because most cities don't have separate cycle tracks.
However, this might change soon in Hyderabad. India’s first solar roof cycling track is being constructed in the city. This track has been named “Healthway” and is 23 kilometres long.
What are some features of this track?
The track has three lanes and two stretches. There will be four entry and exit points where people can get on and off the track from different areas of Hyderabad. This track aims to provide a better experience for the city’s cyclists.
At the four access points, there will be places to repair cycles, cycles that can be rented, food trucks to buy food, and parking lots where one can leave their car and spend time with their family.
Thirty thousand solar panels will be attached to the roof of the track. These panels will light up the three-lane bike path and help generate electricity for the city. The roof will also protect the riders from the sun and rain. About 50 cameras will be put at the entrances and exits to help the police monitor the track.
