About Abhinav Bindra.
Abhinav Bindra is a super cool rifle shooter from India who won a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics! He was the first Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics. How awesome is that?
He was born in 1982 in Dehradun, India. He started practising shooting when he was a teenager. Even though he didn’t win any medals in his first two Olympics (2000 and 2004), he never gave up! He kept trying and won many awards.
After he retired, he continued to help sports grow. Recently, he was given the Olympic Order, making everyone in India super proud!
So, remember, if you work hard and never give up, you can achieve amazing things just like Bindra!

He received this for his contributions to sports and the Olympic movement. He will get his prize in Paris on 10th August 2024. Isn’t that exciting?
What is the Olympic Order?
The Olympic Order is the IOC's highest award given for outstanding contributions to the Olympic Movement.
This award is given to people who do great things for the Olympic Games and sports. This award has three types: gold, silver, and bronze. Gold is usually given to very important people, like presidents.
India’s former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, got the gold award in 1983.
