What’s Formula 1?
Formula 1 (F1) is a famous car racing event in which drivers compete on special circuits to win. The cars are not like normal cars; they are made just for these races.
The first F1 race was in Silverstone, England, in 1950. The competition is held every year, and there are exciting races on different circuits. Each race is called a Grand Prix (GP) and happens in a different country.
This year, there will be 24 races. Usually, twenty drivers and ten teams (each with two drivers) participate in this year-long event.
Record created at the British GP!

Lewis Hamilton recently won the British GP at the Silverstone Circuit in England. This win was special for Hamilton.
It was his ninth win at Silverstone, setting a new record for the most wins at one track by any driver. At 39 years old, Hamilton is also the oldest F1 race winner in the 21st century.
Lewis Hamilton - the legend!
Lewis Hamilton was born in 1985 in England. He started driving go-karting cars when he was young and won a go-karting race at ten years old.
People noticed his talent, so he joined a programme with McLaren and Mercedes-Benz to train and get better. This helped him become an F1 driver.
In 2007, he joined the McLaren F1 team. Since then, he has become one of the best drivers ever. He has won seven World Championship titles, the same as Michael Schumacher.
Hamilton began with McLaren and now drives for Mercedes. Next year, he will join the Ferrari F1 team. Will he win an eighth title, or will he retire before that? We will have to wait and see.
