What’s happening in Rafah?
In the ongoing Gaza war, an Israeli airstrike has caused the death of many people, including children, and injured many others at a refugee camp located in the city of Rafah.
This incident occurred days after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel to stop its attacks in Rafah.
Displaced Palestinians are staying in tents in the Tal as-Sultan area in Rafah, marked as a safe zone. Still, Israel conducted attacks there, causing deaths and injuries.
Rafah was also a key entry point for humanitarian aid before Israel increased its military operations in the area earlier this month.

Many countries, humanitarian groups, and people worldwide have criticised Israel's recent attacks on Rafah.
Horrific images of the burning refugee camp in Rafah spread on social media, and "All Eyes on Rafah" started trending, highlighting the struggle of Palestinians.
Because of the fighting there, help such as food and medicines cannot reach Rafah, severely affecting Palestinians.
Israel’s reaction.

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said the strike on Rafah, killing many civilians, was a “tragic mishap.” Even Israel’s allies have criticised it for the strike.

Many Palestinians were seen fleeing Rafah as Israel continued its ground attacks in the area, which began in early May 2024.
