<h5>Is IPL a popular tournament?</h5><p>The Indian Premier League (IPL) was established in 2008 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Since then, it has become a very popular cricket tournament. The IPL features some of the world’s best cricketers, like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Faf du Plessis, etc. So, all the matches are very exciting to watch.</p><p>Young and upcoming players use this tournament to show their talent. The IPL comprises teams from several cities across India. So, the people of these regions support their local teams loyally. All of these factors contribute to the popularity of the IPL.</p><p>On 29th May, the IPL 2023’s final match was played, bringing an end to an amazing cricket tournament. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lifted this year’s IPL trophy. This year’s tournament introduced <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.newsahoot.com/articles/ipl-2023-starts-tomorrow">specific changes</a>, which made it even more exciting to watch.</p><h5>Whom did CSK defeat to win the IPL 2023 trophy?</h5><p>CSK won IPL 2023 by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in the tournament's final match. GT had scored 214 runs in 20 overs. However, the rain stopped play for a long time. When it was restarted, CSK had to chase a score of 171 in 15 overs. The score was brought down as it was already getting very late.</p><p>Devon Conway and Shivam Dube were top performers for CSK that day. Their batting helped CSK achieve the target. Not only them, but the other batters also chipped in. While MS Dhoni got out for zero runs, Ravindra Jadeja (15 off six balls) remained composed and finished the match in style.</p><p>Earlier, Sai Sudharsan top-scored with 96, and Wriddhiman Saha hit another half-century to help GT reach 214 runs. With this win, Dhoni won his fifth IPL trophy as captain. This ties him with Rohit Sharma for the most IPL trophies won (five trophies each).</p><p>CSK also joins Mumbai Indians (MI) as the most successful team in the IPL. They won eight matches to book a place in Qualifier 1 of the tournament. They faced and defeated GT in this round to reach the finals. However, GT got another chance to reach the finals as they faced MI in the Qualifier 2 match and won.</p><p>The tournament's final match was scheduled to be played on 28th May 2023. However, it was postponed to 29th May 2023 due to continuous rainfall. Devon Conway played a crucial innings in the final to help CSK lift the trophy. For his performance in the final, he received the Player of the Match award.</p><p>All the CSK players gave their best this year, especially since CSK finished ninth on the table in IPL 2022. Also, many people supported CSK in the finals, wanting MS Dhoni to win one more trophy before he retired from cricket. Don’t worry, though, as he hasn’t announced his retirement yet.</p>
